The popular social media platform Twitter, or X as it’s now called, allows users to share, comment, and follow others for free. However, recent developments indicate that this is changing. X (Twitter) is becoming a paid platform. Here are the details…
X is becoming paid for new users!
A recent update on X’s help pages revealed that the platform will start charging new members for basic interactions. According to this pricing model, users will need to pay $1 for sharing posts, replying to posts, liking, and saving posts. In fact, this system was already being tested in New Zealand and the Philippines. Now, it seems to be expanding to a broader audience.
X’s update on the help pages sparked discussions on social media. Following this, Elon Musk, the CEO and CTO of the company, confirmed through a post on his official account that this practice would be implemented to block bot accounts. Musk mentioned that AI tools can pass bot tests.
While some users find X’s plan to charge new members to block bot accounts reasonable, the majority do not share the same opinion. Currently, this system is being implemented on some social media platforms. However, considering Elon Musk’s efforts to attract more users to X, it seems that this decision will remain a topic of discussion for a while.
